Rev. Dr. Lorenzo T. Bennett
Rev. Dr. Lorenzo T. Bennett is the second child born to Janice S. Bennett and the late Clarence G. Bennett, Sr. A proud native of Kenner, Louisiana, Dr. Bennett is a product of the Jefferson Parish School System having graduated from Bonnabel High School in 1996; subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge in 2001, and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Louisiana State University in 2017. In addition, Dr. Bennett obtained his Master of Ministry from Clamp Divinity School at Anderson University in 2022, and earned his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in 2025.
On July 19, 2003, Dr. Bennett accepted his call into ministry and matured in the preaching and teaching of the gospel under the spiritual leadership of his grandfather, Rev. Leroy Sanders, Sr. His first sermon, “Trust in Him” 2 Samuel 22:1-4, was preached on September 19, 2003, and he was ordained on March 21, 2008. For seventeen years, he faithfully served as an associate minister, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and always lent his fellow brothers and sisters a helping hand for annual days. Because of his faithfulness, God called Dr. Bennett to pastor Strangers Home Baptist Church on February 24, 2020 and he was officially installed on March 21, 2021.
Dr. Bennett instills the Christian principles and character of love, service, and compassion personally and professionally. On February 2, 2008, he married the former Carrie LeAnn Johnson, and to this union they have been blessed with two daughters: Gabrielle Johanna and London Leigh. He affectionally calls them “My Ladies.” His vocation is owner and operator of Four Paws Pet Cremation Service, which he started in March 2013. Prior to this entrepreneurial endeavor, he was an intensive care unit technician at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. When not in service to others, Dr. Bennett enjoys hunting and fishing, taking in thrill rides at amusement parks, and rooting for “Dear Southern” as a proud and dedicated Jaguar Nation alum.
As a Christian, Dr. Bennett endeavors daily to walk worthy of his calling and commitments while being sensitive to the leadings of the Holy Spirit in his life, as well as allowing the light of God to show forth in all that he says and does.
